I’m doing a little review and an update all together because both are short 🙂 And we know I love to ramble!

First up, spoiler on my first purchase this month– It Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream. I followed my rules (from my previous blog on my low/no buy)– I wanted a new eye cream, this was on my favs list on the Ulta app, and it was 50% off for $20 during their skin care deals 😁 I wanted to try this so badly but at $40 when I wasn’t sure if I would like it … Man, is skin care expensive!! But $20? I was willing to try it!

First, I’m sorry for the pictures. I remembered at 10:00 PM I forgot to take any and here we are lol.

Packaging– It’s cute, it’s very sturdy, it’s compact, and it’s functional! I couldn’t ask for more.

There is only .5 fluid oz. Again, can we discuss how expensive skin care is? Geez. They recommend you put this on morning and night. I have been doing both for at least two weeks now. I’m not slathering it on because I want it to last lol, but I’m using enough I think. I pat it under my eyes, into my corners, and up into the lids. It feels cooling when it goes on.

I like it so far! It is anti aging, and while I am -gasp- 31, I don’t have enough “aging” issues to say much there. But I was concerned about tugging and dryness due to constant makeup wear. It’s definitely very moisturizing. My under eye area feels very soft and isn’t dry and flat looking anymore. I never had a dark circle issue, but it is supposed to brighten, and I feel like that area looks bright 🙂

Once it’s empty, I will decide if I will repurchase or try something new! If you wanted to try it, though, I am recommending it so far!

An update on my low buy: I made it through December, and I made it until literally yesterday 😂 Up until then, I literally purchased this eyecream and eyeshadow primer that was also on sale! However, Jeffree Star Cosmetics did mystery boxes and I really wanted one, so I went ahead and bought the $40 box. To my delight, my husband also bought me one 😂 To be fair, it’s supposed to be $75 in savings I think, so it’s technically like a sale! But then Colourpop and Kathleen Lights dropped a loose pigment box set to go with their Zodiac collection, and since I literally squealed when I saw swatches, it wasn’t a surprise I was checking out at literally 1:00 PM when it dropped 🤷🤦 I’m going to keep myself in check going forward, I swear! My only other purchases were gifts for friends 😁

Well I’ve decided to try and do a Pan Project for this year. I’m starting out on a low buy so I may as well focus on some of my favorite palettes to get some use out of them! I’m not going to pick a crazy amount right off the bat because I’ve never done a pan project before and I’ve literally never hit pan on any eyeshadow before 😂

I was inspired by Tayler from Tayler’s Edit! Go and check out her blog if you don’t know her 🙂

First up, the non eyeshadow:

We have three foundations! I told myself no more foundation until I finish at least one, and there are some foundations I would like to try 😁 I love all three of these (Urban Decay Naked Skin, NYX BB cream, and Too Faced Dew You), so I’ve just been alternating them so far. I know I’m going to repurchase the BB cream when I run out but I would like to try some other high end foundation.

Note Cosmetics Blush in Desert Rose. I love this blush!!! It’s literally my favorite and I got it in a BoxyCharm. It’s basically the only blush I wear anymore so even though it’s bigger, I think I will have no problem.

Wet n Wild bronzer. I don’t remember the specific shade but it’s the lighter one from the Fire Dragon vs Ice Dragon set. I just got this and I don’t wear bronzer a ton, so this one might be hard lol

Ofra highlighter in Glazed Donut. My favorite highlighter! I love this and wear it a ton but it’s such a huge pan and obviously it’s not something you use a ton of at once (I don’t anyways lol), so this might be a challenge. Plus I have a lot of other highlighters. But this was very expensive so I want to try and get it used!

The Eyeshadows (I’m hoping for 2-4 pans on each):

Morphe 24G Grand Glam. I love this palette but the pans are huge!

Ofra Pro Palette. This is a face palette so this might be challenging but this was one of my most expensive purchases so I want to try and feel like I got my money’s worth lol.

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes. I love love love this and I think once spring and summer hit, I’m going to use this a lot!

Urban Decay Born to Run. I also really enjoy this palette and there’s a lot of shades, so I think I will be able to use it a lot without getting bored of it.

If I happen to do really well with these, I plan on adding some Jeffree Star palettes to the mix.

Are you doing a pan project? I’m excited for a new challenge 😊

Here’s part two of the Fire Dragon vs Ice Dragon box set! If you missed part one, please check out my previous post 🙂 I talked about everything but the eye products!

But in case you don’t care about the other stuff, here’s the packaging again! Recap: super cute lol. I will say I doubt I will keep the box for long just because it’s so large, but it is really pretty.

There were actually four palettes with the collection but only two came in this box set. And sad to say (I would never tell my husband, who bought this for me), I would have rather had the other two 🙊 There was a green and grey palette and those are my favorite colors lol. But overall… I was very disappointed with the actual palettes. They swatched horrible and applied only a little better.

I’m not sure if I got spoiled by using a lot of Urban Decay and Jeffree Star products or if they are just not great. Some were patchy and some had very little pigmentation. The best colors in both were the transition shades!

Yeah 😐

However, the loose pigments, while the swatches aren’t great, do look nice applied with a finger or wet brush!

Here’s a look I did with the red palette and while I’m not the greatest, I did try lol

Just not very vibrant. I know they can have good shadows though! For comparison, I also got the Fire palette they put out with the Zodiac collection and I literally love it.

Here’s with this palette, though I did use the Blood Sugar palette with it for the mattes

What do you think? I love Wet n Wild… I was taken aback by the box set palettes!

Hi, everyone! My wonderful husband bought me the Wet n Wild box set Fire Dragon vs Ice Dragon for Christmas and I’m finally getting around to playing with it! I am going to split this into two parts since there’s a lot of products and I took lots of pictures haha.

They definitely get points for packaging. I have used WnW since forever and they have definitely upped their packaging game in the last few years.

So I’m going to discuss the bronzers, highlighters, and lipsticks! The bronzers and highlighters have such beautiful designs on them! I love it. I think WnW was going for the Game of Thrones crowd, but I am enjoying it all without watching the show 😁

Both highlighters are beautiful. I have used both and love them! No complaints.

Then we have the bronzers. One is definitely too dark for my skin tone but both are very buttery and smooth!

I have used WnW bronzer before and I always enjoy theirs. It always blends out nicely for me!

Last, we have the liquid lipsticks!

This last one is with the flash and no ring light. I honestly love all of them. They got on smoothly, they dry down matte, and they don’t transfer!! It’s weird to say they dry matte because they have a metallic look, so maybe that’s the wrong term, but they dry down completely. I probably won’t wear these all of the time, especially the blue lol, but they all looked nice on. I actually really liked the cool toned taupe one!

Part II will be the eye products! 🙂

Did you guys grab anything from this collection?

First BoxyCharm of 2019 has started off kind of luke warm for me lol. I was thinking about cancelling in November, then I really liked what I got in December, and now I’m back to thinking I will cancel. We will see how February’s box goes! It’s just such a good deal even if I didn’t like everything…

I never understand their themes, lol, but this one is Boxy and Chill. I did get some skincare, some I’m not sure if that’s the chill part? 🤔

So enter a giant blank for the palette! I received Rainforest of the Sea Vol III from Tarte, and I literally opened it and then regifted it to my sister in law. Why? It’s a neutral palette with one matte shade in it. If you follow my Instagram, I gravitate towards colors lol. While I wanted to try a Tarte palette, this one retails $36 and I knew I would swatch and do one look with it. So I wanted someone to enjoy it.

Tatcha face masks, $24. I was excited to finally try something from this brand. I used one and while I didn’t notice any huge difference, it felt nice 🙂

Briogeo leave in hair mask, $16. I was also excited to try this. My hair has been blah lately. I started taking iron vitamins hoping that would help, but they upset my stomach. I used this twice so far and I swear it’s made my hair feel silkier and softer! I will definitely keep using it.

Ofra liquid lipstick, shade Havanna Nights $20. I got another liquid lipstick from them in a past box and loved it, so I knew I liked the formula at least. However, it’s pretty dark for my taste. I’m not sure how much I will use it.

Starlooks black liner, $19. How is this $19? I pulled off the cap and it basically broke. I could still use it but the middle part came off and I have to keep jamming it back in place. On top of that, it was very stiff. I used to use a pencil like this from CoverGirl for $7 and absolutely loved it. As you may tell from the picture, it was not great.

I couldn’t get a precise line, and it literally was so stiff. Not impressed.

What did you guys get? Or are you over BoxyCharm? They better step it up next month! 🙂 The price is still there for me. The mask and the hairspray together are more than what I paid, and I wouldn’t have tried them on my own.

So I was going to do a post on the last two palettes I got from this brand, Beauty Killer and Androgyny, but my phone appears to have deleted all of my Androgyny pictures lol. Technology, am I right? 🤷

But I feel like I’ve had a lot of posts dedicated to Jeffree Star Cosmetics lately, so I’m going to do a final overall thoughts post. Maybe I will revisit them later for more in depth reviews, especially on the ones that didn’t get their own post. But if you check out my Instagram page (Avlovesmakeup), I have swatches and looks for each palette!

The Alien palette

I cannot wait to start using this again. This is my favorite out of the JSC palettes. It has such a wide variety of colors and there are no colors I don’t like!

The Blood Sugar palette

This is my second favorite out of the brand! Again, there is a huge variety of colors and they all blended like a dream. You can do a bold all red look, or a soft neutral.

The Thirsty Palette

My third favorite of the brand. The colors are beautiful and so bright and summery. I found I wanted to use the same three colors over and over again, but maybe once the weather warms up I will be inspired to really delve into this palette.

The Beauty Killer palette

This would be my first favorite and I believe it was the first palette for JSC. The colors are pretty, and I will definitely get some use out of this. I see me more using this in conjunction with other palettes than all by itself.

The Androgyny palette

This one was such a mixed thing for me. I liked the colors individually, but when I looked at this palette, I was not inspired and came up with literally one look with it. It has a beautiful matte olive green that I love, and a beautiful mustard yellow matte, but then I was kind of stuck with what to do. I’m thinking I will just use this in conjunction with other palettes.

Finally, the highlighters

I got the Platinum Ice palette and a Skin Frost in a beautiful mint color. I love all of these so far! If you only like natural looking highlight, though, these are not for you 😂

The only other product I got from JSC that I didn’t post are the lip scrubs, and they are awesome! They smell and taste great lol and they work really well on my lips.

What’s your favorite JSC product? Or what are you dying to try?

It seems every post is a new Jeffree Star Cosmetics palette, I know! I swear I’m almost through the initial review process with them 😂 This is another home run for me!

As with the Alien palette, I have one con– it is so clunky. Even moreso than Alien. It’s set up like a trunk which is a cute concept… But it’s so thick and bulky. The good side to that is that it’s very sturdy! The outside box is a white sleeve with the star emblem. Then the actual palette is faux red leather. There are two metal clasps that hold it closed much like on a typical trunk.

There is a mirror inside. I covered it because I was getting a bad glare from my ring light, but it’s there! The initial draw are the reds, of course. But I was pleasantly surprised at how many color combinations there are! There are neutrals, pinks, purples, as well as the reds! So far I have not had any staining, but I am pretty sure this is a vegan palette, which means the reds are dyes and have the potential to stain (if you’re not familiar, non vegan reds use beetles which do not stain…some red dyes can stain sensitive skins).

My surprise I love this shade shades: Cake Mix, Tongue Pop, Prick, and O Positive. To be clear, I love all of the reds… But these three looked so boring to me in the palette but swatched/applied sooo beautifully. O Positive looked grey to me but it’s my favorite kind of neutral–a greyish purple 😍

Everything has blended perfectly so far and no complaints with any shades! Here are so looks so far. Please keep in mind I’m a beginner and I unfortunately have to do quick makeup due to baby and work time constraints lol

What do you guys think of this palette?
